Welcome to Sarah Jacquelyn Interiors
Sarah Jacquelyn Interiors is a full-service interior design firm in Chicago with a flair for layering color, texture, and pattern. We offer design and project management services for new construction, remodeling, accessorizing, and more. Our team strives to be your trusted guide and resource for all things interior design.Homes in Chicago are not all the same, and neither are the people in them. A Lincoln Park greystone, a Gold Coast vintage co-op, a West Loop loft, and a brand new build in Bucktown each ask for a different approach. We start with how you actually live — where you eat, where you work, where guests land, how your family moves through the day — then build a home around it. The result is a space that photographs beautifully and functions even better. We love what we do, and it shows in the work.

Interior Design Services in Chicago
Full Service Interior Design
Let us handle all the details. Every project is unique and we provide services to fit your needs. Whether you are looking to simply update your furniture or remodel your entire home, we handle every single detail to deliver a fully executed and beautiful space that meets your daily needs and personal tastes. We charge an hourly rate with an initial retainer, create a detailed scope of work, and follow the Phases of Design from start to finish on a timeline and budget that works for you.
Finishing Touches
Let us make your home magazine worthy. Our Finishing Touches service is perfect for clients who already have the key furniture pieces but need help pulling the room together. If your home feels bare, your sofas do not have accent pillows, the bookshelves are half empty, the coffee table feels lonely, the mantel is vacant, and the walls are without art, we are here to help. This service is billed at a flat fee per room.
Designer On Call
Perfect for clients who just need a little design advice or hand-holding. Book us in two-hour or ten-hour blocks for in-home consultations, shopping at the Merchandise Mart with designer access, builder selections, paint colors, rug sizing, styling, furniture rearranging, and lighting decisions. Designer On Call is a live, in-person service with no pre-work or post-work involved.
New Construction Interior Design
We partner with you, your architect, and your builder from the earliest drawings so that outlets, lighting, millwork, and cabinetry are decided before they are framed rather than after. Builder allowances get spent on the finishes that matter.
Remodeling and Renovation Design
Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and whole-home gut renovations. We produce the drawings, selections, and schedules your contractor needs, then keep the project moving through installation and punch list.
Kitchen and Bathroom Design
Cabinetry layouts, islands, countertops, backsplash, tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware, vanities, and lighting — coordinated into one plan before demolition begins.
Powder Room Design
The smallest room in the house is where we have the most fun. Bold wallcovering, statement vanities, art, and lighting turn a powder room into the space guests talk about.
Outdoor Living Design
Rooftops, terraces, patios, and yards designed as real rooms — durable fabrics, correct furniture scale, lighting, and shade that hold up to Chicago weather.
Small Commercial Interior Design
Boutiques, cafes, salons, studios, and offices. We design small commercial interiors that reflect the brand, guide customer flow, and specify materials that survive daily traffic.
Interior Decorating and Styling
Furniture, rugs, drapery, lighting, art, and accessories selected and installed for rooms that do not need construction — just a designer’s eye.
How It Works
Step 1 —
Free Design Discovery Call
Start your project with a free 30-minute design discovery video call. We talk through your space, your timeline, your budget range, and your goals, then tell you honestly which of our services fits.
Step 2 —
Scope and Proposal
We create a detailed scope of work outlining exactly what is included, how we bill, and what the schedule looks like.
Step 4 —
Installation and Styling
We install, style, and walk the punch list with you. You come home to a finished space, not a to-do list.
Step 3 —
The Phases of Design
We follow the Phases of Design — programming, schematic design, design development, documentation, procurement, and installation — so nothing is decided out of order or paid for twice.
Frequently Asked Questions About Hiring an Interior Designer in Chicago
-
Working with an interior designer means someone else carries the decisions, the sourcing, the ordering, the tradespeople, and the timeline. You give input at the moments that matter — direction, approvals, and budget — and we handle the hundreds of smaller choices in between. Most clients tell us the relief is the part they did not expect.
-
Chicago interior designers typically charge in one of three ways: an hourly rate, a flat fee per room or per project, or a percentage of the overall project budget. Published Chicago ranges run from roughly $75 to $500 per hour, with flat fees for a single room commonly between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on scope. Sarah Jacquelyn Interiors charges an hourly rate with an initial retainer for full-service work, a flat fee per room for Finishing Touches, and blocks of time for Designer On Call. Your free discovery call includes an honest conversation about investment before you commit to anything.
-
Anyone can call themselves a decorator. Credentials through organizations such as ASID and qualification standards set by CIDQ mean a designer has verified education, examination, and experience behind them — and understands code, clearances, accessibility, and construction documentation, not just aesthetics. On a remodel or new build, that difference shows up in whether your drawings are buildable.
-
Yes, and it should. Two people rarely walk in with the same taste, and the job of a good designer is not to pick a winner. We pull the threads both partners respond to — one person’s love of pattern, the other’s need for calm — and build a scheme where each of you can point to what is yours. Rooms designed for one person tend to feel like a hotel to the other.
-
An interior decorator focuses on the surface layer: furniture, color, textiles, art, and accessories. An interior designer does that and works on the space itself — layouts, walls, millwork, cabinetry, lighting plans, and finish specification coordinated with architects and contractors. Sarah Jacquelyn Interiors does both, which is why our services range from full-service renovation design to flat-fee room styling.
-
Yes. We regularly work alongside general contractors, architects, and builders in Chicago, and we produce the selections, drawings, and schedules your team needs on their timeline. We work with high-quality tradespeople and reliable vendors, and we are experienced in custom furniture, drapery, and cabinetry.
-
Yes. Finishing Touches is billed at a flat fee per room, and Designer On Call is bookable in two-hour blocks. Not every project needs a full renovation team.
-
We serve Chicago and the surrounding area, including Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Lakeview, West Loop, Bucktown, Wicker Park, and River North.
